A Curious Journey through the Labyrinth of Life

Last weekend, I delved into the Netflix drama "The Wind Blows," and from the very first scene, I was captivated. The captivating plot and cliffhanger endings had me compulsively pressing the 'next episode' button. After completing the entire series, I felt like I had stumbled into a curious and perplexing realm, akin to Alice falling down the rabbit hole into Wonderland.

Much like Alice's bewilderment in the fantastical world of Wonderland, I found myself grappling with the complexities and contradictions of our own reality. For instance, my least favorite type of restaurant is a buffet. The temptation to indulge in an all-you-can-eat spread, justifying my actions by the hefty price tag, often leads to overindulgence and self-reproach for my gluttony. Similarly, the vast amount of knowledge I've acquired through learning often remains dormant, piling up like an insurmountable tower instead of alleviating my ignorance.

My education, particularly the emphasis on morality and proper conduct during my youth, painted a rosy picture of the world, leading me to believe that life would be a breeze. However, the harsh realities I encountered upon entering university shattered this illusion. The values instilled in me at school often clashed with the pragmatic realities of the world, and the concept of common sense seemed like an elusive and intricate art form. The reason I found the world so perplexing and often abhorrent was due to the unrealistic expectations and unfounded hopes planted in my heart by adults and teachers during my formative years.

Despite the bewildering nature of our existence, we find ourselves navigating this jungle-like world, seeking solace and companionship among those who share our thoughts and experiences. In her book "Forty Years of Time," author Leesoojin beautifully captures this sentiment, stating that entrance exams, job searches, and marriage are not the end goals, but rather the gateways to a peculiar and often perplexing realm.

To all those who have ventured into this curious land, I extend my heartfelt wishes for a fulfilling and enjoyable journey, despite the inevitable challenges and setbacks. After all, life is but a fleeting adventure, lasting a mere century, with nothing to carry with us when we depart. So, let us embrace this extraordinary odyssey with gusto and make the most of every moment.
