Ignore the Noise
Ignore the Noise
While looking at the stock graphs today, I suddenly drifted into thoughts about history. When viewed on a macro level, human history is undoubtedly progressing towards democratic societies, and although there may be fluctuations on a micro level, ultimately, it will continue to move forward. From 700,000 years ago when humans transitioned from the Stone Age to civilization, to 2,000 years ago when nations were formed, we've experienced epochs that are hard to imagine today, with kings, nobles, commoners, and even slaves. The entry into modern democracy didn't occur until the 18th century, with events like the French Revolution in 1789. If Lincoln hadn't issued the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, there might still be social stratification in the United States today. However, there has undoubtedly been progress towards human rights and equality.
Today, we condemn non-democratic leaders through social media and overthrow political powers through movements. We boycott non-democratic companies, impacting their business operations and even causing some to close their doors. History has undoubtedly progressed towards democracy, and it will continue to do so in the future. Government systems will operate more transparently. Regressive phenomena towards non-democratic pasts are just reactionary noise. I remember reading on a bulletin board years ago that democracy grows from bloodshed. Thinking of the countless sacrifices made by those victims, I wonder if they themselves might not see themselves as victims from a metaphysical perspective.
The age-old, somewhat tedious question "What is justice?" continues to be a significant topic in the 21st century, reflecting the concerns and desires of people worldwide to progress towards a more just and democratic society.
In that regard, I consider having a more discerning perspective towards the noise that occurs day by day.
