The Reason for Depression

 The Reason for Depression

Parker J. Palmer says, "The true meaning of vocation is hidden in the word 'Vocation,' and the origin of vocation is the Latin word for 'voice'." Vocation is the inner voice of the soul.

Feeling depressed or, in severe cases, being diagnosed with depression, means ignoring the voice of the soul within me. When there is a disparity between the mind and actions, or when hesitation arises, that uncomfortable feeling is precisely it.

It is said that vocation does not stem from willpower but rather starts from listening to the voice of the soul. Therefore, vocation is not a goal to achieve but a gift already given to me by the divine.

We often pay more attention to the voices around us rather than the voice of the soul. Even when obtaining a job, we tend to choose a job or position with better conditions rather than the one we truly desire. At such times, try whispering to your soul. "What would be the best aspect if you went there right now?" If it's just about money and fame, you are once again rejecting your soul's vocation, your aspirations, and rejecting the gift from the divine.

Depression can be seen as the final effort of the soul, the divine, asking, "What is it that you truly desire?" Depression is not something to be avoided but rather a gift given by the divine to start life anew.

To listen to the voice of the soul, it is recommended to take a walk or practice meditation. Holding a remote control, the voice of the soul remains silent. Have you ever listened to the voice spoken by the soul?
