Positivity makes flowers bloom!
Positivity makes flowers bloom!
Since ancient times, adults have ingrained the saying, "Live positively. Smiling brings blessings," into our minds. Just as water flows beneath ice even in the coldest of winters and stars shine brighter as the night deepens, the seeds that could bloom into flowers never doubted that spring would come.
Haruyama Shigeo, born in Japan in 1940 as a second-generation Korean, is famous for integrating Western and Eastern medicine in his practice after graduating from the University of Tokyo's medical school. According to his book "Brain Revolution," currently, only about 20% of diseases can actually be cured by doctors. It's said that 80% of the $700 trillion spent on healthcare globally is wasted. He claims that humans have defense mechanisms against all diseases within their bodies, and the secret lies in the hormones within the human body.
It is said that the human brain responds to stimuli by secreting various hormones, also known as natural narcotics. While the brain typically weighs about 1.4kg, it consumes 15-20% of the oxygen used by the body as it continuously analyzes information and issues commands.
When happy, it secretes β-endorphins; when excited, dopamine; when moved, endorphins; when sad, adrenaline; and noradrenaline. Dopamine, endorphins, and others enhance the immune system and attack cancer cells by reacting with white blood cells, while the adrenaline system releases reactive oxygen species to create toxic substances. Illegal drugs like heroin, commonly referred to as highly addictive narcotics, interrupt the production of natural narcotics within the body, thus becoming toxins in the body.
The crucial point is that humans themselves choose whether to interpret stimuli as sad or happy, and this is where the importance of positive thinking lies. Physiologists have found that 70-80% of people tend to have negative thoughts. This is because they are obsessed with the present stability.
To increase positive thinking, it is recommended to engage in intentional activities such as eating, exercising, and meditating to promote the release of β-endorphins. When brain waves are in the alpha state, β-endorphins are produced abundantly. Meditation can stabilize brain waves in the alpha state, helping to promote positive thinking by stopping and clearing the mind. A diet rich in high-protein, low-fat natural and fermented foods is recommended. Obesity is considered the enemy of modern people. It disrupts blood circulation, hindering oxygen delivery.
It's also advised not to engage in vigorous exercise after the age of 30 because excessive production of reactive oxygen species occurs in the body. This is because oxygen in the air reacts with the body's tissues to oxidize them, much like how iron rusts or food spoils when exposed to air. It is said that the human body also produces toxins when activated oxygen promotes oxidation. Therefore, activities like gymnastics and walking are recommended. It's said that light exercises are more effective than vigorous exercises in burning body fat, as oxygen effectively reacts with fat for combustion, and athletes tend to have shorter lifespans than ordinary people.
Sister Imisook's book "So Smile" tells the story of the power of laughter. Professor Albert Mehrabian of California State University, who specializes in psychology, conducted an experiment to determine what kind of image a speaker conveys to a listener. The experiment found that 55% of the image of the speaker was based on the listener's facial expression, 38% on their voice, and only 7% on the content of the speech. Thus, when conversing, 93% of the image the other person receives depends on the facial expression and voice.
Professor Ernest Abel's team at Wayne State University in Detroit conducted a study on the relationship between smiling in photos and lifespan among 230 people. They classified smiling faces into three categories: those with serious expressions looking calmly at the camera, those with a slight smile around the mouth, and those with raised mouths, cheeks, and even eyes, smiling broadly. They then examined the average lifespan of these groups.
The average lifespan of the first group was 72.9 years, the second group was 75 years, and the third group was 79.9 years. There are people who confess that they received blessings even though they were just trying to make people laugh. Some claim to have recovered from illness. Smile. If you live with positive thinking and enjoy news and exercise, you don't need a panacea.
Luck definitely exists!
It is said that there is a profession in Korea that is recession-proof. That is the job of a fortune teller or fate consultant. Jeong Il Lee has been studying fortune telling since he was very young, and after graduating from a prestigious university and graduate school, he has analyzed and consulted on the fortunes of over 40,000 people. Based on his experiences, he wrote a book called "Old Secrets." Although young, the principle of luck for this very bold woman makes us think a lot about our attitude towards life.
Malcolm Gladwell, famous for works like "Outliers" and "The Tipping Point," also emphasized the importance of luck for successful people. In Chinese metaphysics, luck is called saju, or Four Pillars of Destiny. Based on the yin and yang and the five elements, Chinese metaphysics believes that the universe and humans are connected, and by filling in the missing parts with names, colors, and feng shui, balance can be achieved. It's not about summoning nonexistent blessings; it's about preparing for risks that arise from inadequate Four Pillars of Destiny.
There are people who eat and live well while doing bad things. There are also people who are good-natured but don't do well. Why is that? It's because a person's luck is directly connected to their heart. It is said that if you have a good heart but feel guilt and a sense of damage over trivial matters, you cannot attract good luck. It's said that if you do bad things but don't feel guilty, bad energy cannot come. However, if you start regretting a rough life at a late age, luck will decline, leading to a downfall in the end.
It is said that it is impossible to accurately predict destiny even with the most extensive horoscope. This is because destiny also changes. Luck usually changes every 8 to 12 years. Ordinary people typically have a prime period of about 10 years. So, good luck doesn't continue for just one person. Bad luck is the same. Jeong Il Lee repeatedly says that all human affairs depend on one's mindset. Luck comes to those who are prepared and act. Embrace change positively. Change is luck and something to be thankful for. Although life may change for various reasons, success cannot be explained.
